Your old computer remains safe and unchanged, and nothing is erased from it. Your new computer will feel just like the old one.
Zinstall transfers all of your stuff to your new computer: your programs, documents, music, pictures, favorites, emails, accounts, settings – and of course all of your files. Zinstall WinWin is a transfer utility that claims to be able to move everything from an old PC to a new one with little to no involvement from me. One alternative to PCmover, is to move files to a separate hard disc and from there upload them onto a new computer, but this requires both equipment and time, and your settings will not be automatically maintained.What if there was a way to make the process simple and hands-off? What if there was a way to automate it so that I don’t have to do anything? Or at least nearly nothing? Would that be worth something? To me, yes, it would. “PCmover moves programs, files and settings from your old PC to your new PC – even restores from an image (or old hard drive) or performs an in-place upgrade.” “PCmover is the main software Laplink produces. The site says, “Zinstall WinWin supports XP, Vista, and Windows 7”, so this is only useful if you have any of these systems. Zinstall, on the other hand only seems to work with new versions of Windows. They say, “You can even use PCmover to migrate your PC to an Intel-based Mac using VMware Fusion, Parallels or Bootcamp.” While Laplink works with Windows, (the most popular operating system), it also works with other systems.
Microsoft invested in Laplink, clearly showing how much ahead of any competition Laplink is, saying, “This investment demonstrates our commitment to meeting the needs of an increasingly global and mobile workforce.”
Laplink has few competitors for its products, in so much that they appear to be the only company making certain items and offering particular services. There are a variety of time, labour and effort saving devices available from Laplink that are not offered by any other company. They also make a defrag, safe erase and other useful tools. “PDAsync” syncs data between multiple devices giving file synchronization and transfer utility, while “PCmover Image Assistant”, (on sale May 26th ), allows the transfer of images from different operating systems, such as an XP image to a Windows 7 PC. Laplink also makes “Laplink Everywhere”, a remote access tool, allowing you to access your PC from almost any device, from a different computer, to a browser enabled phone or even a games box. Both these products offer simple, effective ways to transfer data from one computer to another.
Laplink started with a Laplink cable and moved on to the software “PCmover”. They also make backup and recovery software for PCs. This means hassle free transfer of data from one device to another and also remotely accessing a computer from any mobile device. Laplink is a company that makes devices to connect one computer to another.
